We own a small plot of land in the middle of a road of what used to be originally a water well, years down the line our well has gone and a main road is running in the middle of it , after going over. To cyprus and lots of investigations chasing it up with nicosia council they told us theres nothing they can do and offered us 50€ to buy itincluding compensation this cant be right surely, if they are in ne EU the law is the same as ours , so why cant i put a fence round my plot to stop he traffic , bit extreme but the idea is right

Nothing you can do, it was used for public works, if they gave you 50 euros just take it and consider yourself lucky. I have lost valuable land by this method. Don't waste your time, money or efforts you will get no where.

In any case you need a planning permit to erect any fencing and it will be denied.
